Our love for the Margarita is obvious. It was our first (and only) cocktail for nearly a year when we started Golden Rule. As we continued to evolve our cocktail offerings there was a clear gap in spirits missing: mezcal. At home we have used mezcal as an alternative base for many of our classic cocktails from Old Fashioneds (Oaxacan Old Fashioned) to Negronis and of course the Margarita.
When choosing how to introduce mezcal into the lineup we wanted to stick classic but give it a subtle twist. Enter the Spicy Mezcal Margarita. We chose a beautiful Artisanal Mezcal* (distinctly different from industrial mezcal) that has just enough smoke without being overpowering while also offering layers of fruitiness to balance out the peppery heat. We were careful to not introduce too much heat instead allowing it to build as you enjoy the cocktail. To round out our Spicy Mezcal Margarita we once again relied on our proprietary triple-sec and perfectly tart 100% lime juice.
